Straight from the block, used to escape from the cops Quick to fight em fast, incase those cakes wann a box Stayed playful a lot, with an ungrateful plot, Played in the lot, until it became a place for rocks, I wish I can erase some of the past, from life on the streets, Drugs can put a husband a wife on the streets, Hard to live, but easy to recite over beats Everything in Chicago aint nice and at peace Summer time girls, half naked looking right in the heat, I;m liking them cheeks, fools fightin to speak Loving it by the lake where I get a breeze, Where I feel at ease, and might smoke some weed My life must proceed, but am I a statistic I think not, cause I am terrific, optimistic God made me gifted, but this city has me lifted, I knew you where thirsty so the cup I tipped it Anylifestyle you choose, better grip it hard Life in the city at all easy like a Christmas card Rather on the blocks, or on the bus or el the police profiling taking you to county jail but do I really care, and ofcourse I shed a tear hope I make thismessage clear, theres nothing else to fear yeah, theres a change coming, and I aint running a quick wakeup call for every man and woman,
